Split Marathon representatives participated in the “UN Tourism & FIA Awards for Excellence in Sustainable Sports Tourism” ceremony held at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Hotel in Madrid, organized by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism / UNWTO) and the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
The Split Marathon, submitted by the Tourist Board of the City of Split (Visit Split) in the category “Impact on the community in sports tourism”, was among the finalists and won the Certificate of Recognition of Excellence. This recognition confirms the quality of the organization, the sustainability of the event and its positive social impact on the local community.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the program of the stay included participation in the Change Accelerated Live Summit 2026 conference, organized by Formula E and the RACE Foundation, as well as attending the ABB Formula E FIA World Championship 2026 – CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix race.
Together with the other finalists from Croatia, the representatives of Split Marathon also participated in the reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Madrid.
We are proud that the Split Marathon has been recognized internationally as an example of good practice in sustainable sports tourism and that its activities continue to promote Split and Croatia through sport, togetherness, and sustainable development.
